In 2013 local business owners and members in the Mendon community for over 19 years, Vicki and Mike Allen combined their wealth of knowledge and a welcoming presence with their passion to serve people by opening The Black Horse Bistro. The Black Horse Bistro is named in memory of Vicki’s childhood horse and pays homage to the community and local businesses. The Bistro is a small 43 seat unique and relaxing full-service restaurant and bar that makes fine dining accessible, fun and enjoyable. Our mission is to serve our customers the highest quality local seasonally sourced ingredients with outstanding service.

Our new Chef, Rob Downey, most recently held the Chef position at Max Chophouse. He is a native of Palmyra, NY and has lived in various cities to include Portland, OR and Asheville, NC. Chef Downey is excited to bring his experiences in traveling the country to our restaurant.
